Fideylie is growing up a small agricultural area in central Haiti, a region vulnerable to disasters like hurricanes and flooding that many people aren’t well prepared for. Families struggle to break out of poverty, and too many children are orphaned and must manage for themselves and their siblings. Children suffer from malnourishment, and they often aren’t fully vaccinated; the area doesn’t have enough well-stocked health centers to serve everyone’s needs. Not enough kids are registered at birth, which hinders them from being able to access needed government services throughout life. Children don’t have enough opportunities to attend school, and families also lack clean water sources, proper sanitation facilities, and good hygiene knowledge. Kids and youth aren’t well protected from abuse, exploitation, or harm, and most don’t know their rights for education, care, and protection.

Your sponsorship commitment will help Fideylie and her family get better access to healthcare and nutrition information. People’s access to clean water and proper sanitation facilities will be improved, and families will be able to join savings groups to boost their incomes. We’ll work together with churches and government leaders to raise awareness of child protection issues and empower children and youth with knowledge of their rights.
